TEDx - who is Karen White?

TEDx - WHO IS KAREN WHITE

That is a good question!!  I haven't always been Karen White - now "Karen White" for five years.  

I was a college professor for thirty-eight years.  I've lived in Iowa (my birthplace), Minnesota, Wisconsin, Nebraska, South Dakota, Oregon, and Connecticut, and now I'm in Georgetown,  Texas (just outside of Austin).

I loved my teaching and my students, but I was (as I say) "smacked" by a two-by-four when I discovered I was judgmental and egotistical.

I  play in a community Orchestra; I play in a German Umpha Band for Oktoberfest; I have played Granny Basketball (and now I'm the team's scorekeeper - I like my knees and hips and don't want to fall).  I play social bridge (I am friendlier, and we laugh and are serious).  I volunteer at a nursing home where I feed a 97-year-old lady dinner five nights a week.  (She doesn't talk anymore but is a sweet older lady).

I still believe in God and worship in a small Christian group.  I have walked away from being judgmental of other people and proclaiming who is going to heaven or hell.  I view God as He/She/It/The Force/whatever.  Scientists estimate there are at least eight TRILLION galaxies - and each galaxy has stars and possibly planets.  That's INFINITY to me.  There is something - heaven, utopia, paradise, Eden - beyond me.  That is perfect LOVE.

Why is Texas the center of the universe? Consider a circle. A circle has a center. From that center, it is an equal distance to the line of the circle (we’d call that a “radius” - or radii (plural)).
